MicroBlading
What is Microblading?
Microblading is also permanent makeup treatment for your brows, and it too gives the illusion of thicker brows by drawing on extra hairstrokes. However, it’s done manually, with a thin blade rather than a needle, so the strokes of Microblading are somewhat thicker but still very natural. This technique is not recommended for oily or mature skin. Results generally last 1-2 years. Yearly touchups are recommended.
During your first session (approximately 2 hours), your desired brow shape will be designed and mapped out, based on your bone structure, face shape and style preference. Once shape and pigment are determined, a numbing cream is applied to the area. Using either a handheld Microblading pen or Nano machine we will use pigment to add small “hair” strokes to the skin and create the appearance of natural hair.
The color of your new brows will soften in 2-3 weeks by about 30 percent (sometimes more) and color is generally matched to your root color or slightly lighter. I like to start off with a lighter color because we can always deepen the color later but can not take it away if the initial color is too dark. The second session is required to finalize the treatment which is performed 6-8 weeks after your first appointment. It is typical for some “hairs” to shed during the healing process, the second session replaces any hairs that have not healed into the skin. During the second session, color, thickness and strokes may also be adjusted. Pigment heals differently for everyone, and this second appointment allows for final touches to your brow color and shape. Your treatment is not considered complete until you have your second appointment. Following your second session you should not need a touch-up for a year or more.
Immediately following your appointment, your eyebrows will appear to have crisp new hairs. Redness is normal immediately after the appointment and will fade within a few hours. You should be able to feel/look totally normal after and could return to work etc right away. As you heal, the crisp lines lightly blur into a slightly thicker lines. They also appear darker in the beginning and will gradually fade about 10-30% after they heal. The reason we wait at least 6 weeks in between appointments is to ensure the skin has healed and pigment is truly settled in the skin. the reason we don’t wait more than 8 is if the color was too light or multiple strokes fell out it could fade out before we can touch it up essentially starting all over.
Before booking permanent makeup you must complete a consultation with Meoki or Lauren. There you will go over which technique is better suited for your brow goals, lifestyle, and skin type. She will go over pre-care/post-care procedure and draw in strokes so that you can visualize and gain a full understanding of the process and ask any questions you may have.
